Metalbirds are laser cut from 3mm Corten® steel with the exception of the Christmas Dove which is made out of powder-coated aluminium.
A copper chromium alloy steel, Corten® is weather resistant – it’s designed to rust quickly, which gives a layer of protection. It means that Metalbirds last for decades, with a patina that changes with the seasons.

No – Metalbirds are made from Corten® which is designed to rust. This means paint won’t stay on for long. If you want to add colour to them, then we recommend having them professionally powder coated.
They have been designed as a collaboration between the Aussie Metalbird team and the New Zealand Metalbird team – these designs are exclusive to Metalbird.

If you are installing a metalbird into a soft timber you can hammer it straight into the tree (or post). If you are installing it into a medium or hard timber, you will need to drill the timber first and then hammer it in. Click here for more information.
No, the hammering of a steel ‘peg’ into a tree will not do any damage to it - they are designed naturally to sustain such circumstances. The tree will naturally seal off around where the bird is installed to protect itself from disease. Our original birds are seven years old and the trees are showing no harm whatsoever.

All birds are shipped with Australia Post. Delivery times can vary but the below table contains the indicative delivery times provided by Australia Post when you choose the regular parcel post delivery option at checkout.

No - all order information will be emailed to the address you give us when checking out. We don't put anything in the shipment in case it's a present!
All our local and international orders are shipped with Australia Post. You will be sent a tracking number when your order is sent so you can follow your Metalbird's journey and will have to sign for it when it arrives to make sure it gets to you safely.

Yes as we ship with Australia Post we definitely can!
The Australia Post driver will leave a note for you to collect your local at your local post office. Parcels are kept at the post office for five days – you will receive another note to remind you to pick it up. It will then be kept at the post office for five more days. If the parcel has not been collected by then, it will be returned to our warehouse.
